The first few months of our year had us busy with lots of spelling! Each Spring, Melrose schools compete with one another for the Spelling Bee Title. Caleb was given a list of several hundred words to study and had to take a test to make the Spelling Bee team, composed of three students and two alternates. Caleb was so excited to have made it on the team with his fellow classmates Addy and Joseph. They all studied every day and we hosted a practice session before the big event. The Spelling Bee was so fun and full of excitement. It was evident that all the kids had studied their word lists and eventually the moderators had to give the kids words off the list. In a drama-filled final round, team Hoover won by spelling the word yurt correctly.
