My Last Hurdle

I embarked on my journey to become certified as a Childbirth Educator last January and have since spent countless hours reading, observing, writing, attending births, and preparing for my first class. I began teaching my very first childbirth class series on April 28th as part of my certification requirement. I've got three more classes to go, and am hopeful to have my certification packet submitted in June.

Mother's Day

My Mother's Day tradition of running in the Melrose Run for Women, was made even more special today since I was joined by Adelina! She did a wonderful job and kept a steady pace for the entire 3.5 miles....finishing in 42:20!! We had perfect weather, and lots of friends cheering us on.

Caleb worked very hard at making us a nice lunch afterwards :)

Big Time Catch Up!

We had a very nice April vacation with lovely weather and lots of fun activities. One day the kids and I spent the day at Plum Island walking the trails and enjoying time with our toes in the sand.

As we drove down the island, we were treated with a very close view of this beautiful red-tailed hawk. He was perched right on the guard rail and was not intimidated by us, which allowed for this great photo.
We were also surprised to find a couple of very close wild turkeys.
The beach was a big hit per usual and the kids particularly enjoyed climbing on rocks and looking in the tidal pools for perfect seashells.

At lunch time, each kid picked a rock to eat on.

Adelina recently had a very special "high tea" at her school. We made very elegant rice crispy treats for snack and she dressed in her finest clothes! We even found an Easter hat at a consignment shop to complete her ensemble.
Prompted by Adelina asking me how you make yogurt, we recently made our first batch of homemade yogurt. Now we are officially addicted to the mildly tangy, super creamy homemade yogurt....and we can make our own yogurt cups for about $0.25, when the store brand costs at least $1.00.
Caleb had a half-day on Wednesday, so we took advantage of the extra hours to enjoy time at a playground with friends...and a little ice cream.
Finally, Adelina worked very hard to prepare a special Mother's Day treat for me at school. Sadly, my camera battery was dead and, in classic fashion, I never had a clear view of Lina during the pageant. But she made one pretty cake!!
