Hangover Classic

After way too much feeling under the weather, it was wonderful to have a beautiful day racing with Caleb. He agreed to be my pacer during the Hangover Classic 10K and helped me to beat my goal of breaking 48:30, with a finishing time of 48:12. Caleb also got to experience the chill of the Atlantic Ocean in January and completed his first Polar Plunge. After such a fun experience, we celebrated by a great lunch at Agave in Newburyport. It was the perfect way to start the New Year!!

New York City

After such a lovely Christmas Day, it was a real bummer that Caleb and I woke up on December 26th with a intense GI bug. We spent the day either on the couch, in bed, or in the bathroom and struggled with fevers, aches and GI yuckiness. We weren't much better on Sunday. Caleb started to feel better Monday, but it took me until Tuesday morning to begin recovering. Sadly, Caleb's GI symptoms returned once we got to New York on Tuesday evening; however, we still managed to have some fun in NYC on Wednesday...with more trips to the bathroom that we could count.

We took the MTA from White Plains into Grand Central fairly early on Wednesday morning. We spent some time exploring Times Square and surrounding tourist attractions before heading to a piano practice studio at 11 am.

We had lunch reservations at Butter, but given the GI issues, we decided to skip lunch and head to the Empire State Building. It was very cloudy, with extremely limited visibility, but we decided it was still worth the trip to the 86th floor. After our tour there, we found some lunch in Midtown and then were treated with a trip to the Steinway Store.

Caleb managed to get a few moments on his favorite Steinway D. He even attracted a pretty good crowd while playing the much smaller Steinway B.
We then walked/took a short cab ride to Lincoln Center and then headed to Central Park. We splurged on a horse-drawn carriage ride around the park....it turned out to be one of the kids' favorite things that we did.

After a very long day, we trekked back to Grand Central Station and made the trip back to our hotel.
