The photographer from the Celebrity Series shared about 100 photos with me that he took on Saturday. These are my favorites. It is still to be determined if any of these will make the cut for the newspaper ad. We might meet this photographer again next weekend for more pictures and video.

Street Pianos Boston - Part III
What a weekend! Today (after getting the kids their flu shots), we went apple picking at Cider Hill Farm. The place was a mad house, but we managed to find some quiet places to pick some apples. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed a nice picnic lunch complete with cider donuts and apple cider.
We then drove down to Cambridge to do a little more piano hopping. We didn't have any "magic moments" today like yesterday, but we all had fun and Caleb had both admirers and people that inspired him.At the Longy School of Music
1667 Massachuestts Avenue
Harvard Science Center
Harvard Holyoke Center
Harvard's Brattle Square....there was a live band playing across the street, so no one even noticed Caleb playing....but he wanted to anyways.
Central Square
One Kendall Square
This guy rocked some Chopin, which Caleb really loved!
And finally....MIT/Cambridge Center. This piano was adorned by legos, which was definitely a bonus!
Now that we've seen 22 out of 75 pianos in just one weekend, I wonder how many more we'll get in before the pianos leave on October 14th?

Street Pianos Boston - Part II
Since Caleb had Eurhythmics at the NEC today, we decided to focus on getting more pianos today around town. Our first one was right at the NEC, just around the corner from Caleb's classroom. Lina enjoyed playing "Old McDonald" and Caleb quickly drew a crowd of admirers.
After a spectacular lunch at a Persian restaurant, we stopped at the piano at Symphony Hall. Caleb again received lots of complements and comments about him one day playing at Symphony Hall.
Next we went to the Mary Baker Eddy Library at the Christian Science Center. This was the only piano we've encountered so far that has been indoors....and completely in-tune!
Lina playing Old McDonald
The next two pianos were at the Berklee College of Music...one at the bookstore and another outside of a college building.Caleb had a couple of spectators who returned the favor and played music of their own. It was so amazing!
After leaving Berklee, we headed to Newbury Street to the Boston Architectural College. There was a very talented pair singing and playing the piano and we enjoyed their performance very much. The vocalist is a student at Berklee and she provided lots of encouragement to Caleb about his dream to attend Berklee.
Our next stop was on Boylston St, outside of the Prudential Center. Caleb captured the attention of a photographer from the Celebrity Series (a sponsor of Street Pianos Boston). There is a chance Caleb might make the Boston Metro newspaper!
From there, we went to the Ben and Jerry's on Newbury Street and had a magical experience! When we walked up, there was a man playing Elton John and he had drawn a big crowd. Caleb jumped at the chance to play once he was done. I wish I had been videoing this moment. When Caleb started playing, it got quiet and when he finished, he got roaring applause. People were asking his name and age and saying "Encore, encore". He hopped up and said "Can we go get ice cream now?" and everyone laughed! After we ate our ice cream, he was asked to play an encore, which he happily obliged, and got to meet the artist who painted this particular piano.
Another piano/vocalist team....wonderful!!
Our last stop was Titus Sparrow Park, which is just on the edge of South Boston. This piano was beautiful, but unfortunately had lots of keys that didn't work.
Randy was "super Dad" on the way back to the car! After 3 miles and many hours, the kids were exhausted (as were we)....but what a perfect day!!

Street Pianos Boston -- Part I
Caleb and I have been looking forward to today for months....the kick-off of "Play Me I'm Yours...Street Pianos Boston". For the next two and a half weeks, there are 75 artist-decorated pianos placed around Boston. Caleb has especially been looking forward to playing around the city, so today after school we drove to the Charlestown Navy Yard to see our first piano.
We then crossed the bridge to the North End and visited the piano at the Old North Church. Caleb got a nice round of applause and several people stopped to take pictures/video of him as he played.
The next stop was along the Rose Kennedy Greenway. I expected him to draw a crowd, but it was tucked back from the main walkway. It was a very pretty piano!
Everyone was tired, but we decided to make one last stop at City Hall Plaza and it was well worth it. The pianos were all a little out-of-tune and had keys that stuck, so his performances weren't up to his typical level....but he stuck with it and really seemed to enjoy performing in-front of a crowd. I definitely welled up with tears watching people stop to listen, take pictures and videos, smile and clap for him. It was really awesome.
Here is a short clip of his Bach Prelude
An impromptu duet...
After-school pics
I was thinking yesterday about how I rarely blog about our "normal" day-to-day activities, so I decided to take a few pictures of what the kids were doing.
Levi was hard at work building an orange tower....
....and making his sad face.Lina just mastered this United States puzzle and is very proud...we are too!
Caleb reading his new favorite book series....Geronimo Stilton.
The other exciting news of last evening was that Caleb lost another tooth. He used the "biting into an apple" strategy again to help it fall out.
