Future Chef?

I'm becoming convinced that Caleb is going to follow in his great-grandfather's footsteps and be a chef. He's been pulling out my cook books and then sits on the kitchen floor and "reads" them. Here he is looking at one of Grandpa's cook books.

Most afternoons when we are playing outside I ask him if he'd like to come inside and help me cook dinner. He usually drops what he's doing and runs to the house saying...cook, cook! I tried to capture it on video, but instead I got this funny clip.

Fun in the Rain

Last week it rained almost every day...which is terrible if you are a toddler who loves to be outside. Finally last Thursday I gave in and let Caleb run around in the rain. Of course, he had a fantastic time!

I said No!

I guess I say "I said No!" to Caleb too much these days because it is his new favorite phrase. We were on our way upstairs and he started babbling about it, so I ran and grabbed the camera. At one point he also says, Dada...shhh because on the weekend if Randy sleeps in one day, I'm always telling him to be quiet and not wake Daddy. Just thought this was funny!

Various Pics and Videos

It's been a while since I blogged last, so I have a bunch of unrelated pictures and videos to share.

Friday morning Caleb and I met Carrie/Ethan, Pam/Ty, and Bridget/Katie for breakfast and some run-around time at a local mall. Caleb didn't care much for the breakfast, but had a really fun time running around the mall and looking for trouble.

Believe it or not, but I actually had a craving for Indian food on Friday night, so we did take-out from a local place. Caleb hadn't eaten Indian in a while, so I wasn't sure if he was going to like it...but he devoured it! I took some video just because I thought he was cute.

On Sunday Caleb and I went to the play-place Imajine That for a few hours. Caleb enjoyed exploring all the toys and running around. We even played dress-up and got to be firefighters!

Caleb was very busy at the Imajine That grocery store. He really liked stocking the shelves.

Caleb also had a blast on the big jungle gym. He went down the slide like a hundred times. He started out going on his bottom, but then decided that belly first was more fun!

Here's the little guy today. We were taking turns making faces at one another and he was really cracked up.

A Day at the Beach

Today was a gorgeous day, so we decided to take Caleb to the ocean. We drove up to Gloucester to a beach called Good Harbor. Caleb was so excited to be there, but our morning didn't quite turn out as planned. It wasn't really hot today and there was a stiff SW wind that made it feel a little cool. And of course the water was freezing! Caleb started out running around and filling up his bucket with sea water.

All really fun...until a tiny wave took him out. The water must have chilled him to the bone because he never recovered. We sat in the sun, ate snacks, snuggled under dry clothes, but Caleb just couldn't get over his fall. Randy and I felt really bad for him because he loves the beach so much. After an hour and a half, we called it a day...and Caleb was asleep by the time we made it back to the car.

While Caleb napped, we drove to Essex and planned to have lunch at Woodman's clam shack. It's a "famous" restaurant and they have really good local fried seafood and lobster. Caleb woke up just in time to enjoy some fried Haddock and onion rings. Yum!

After lunch we stopped by the new ice cream stand at Woodman's and they gave Caleb a free baby cone. Of course he was in heaven!

Caleb and Friends

Caleb had lots of play time this week with his friends Lily, Sophia, and Matthew. Here are a few pics.

Share!

Caleb really made me laugh yesterday, so I had to share this story.

Randy and I have been teaching Caleb about sharing lately. He knows the word and the sign and we're pretty sure he's got the context down. Yesterday I was with Caleb at Target picking up a few things. He was sitting in the shopping cart and I was carrying my list. He kept grabbing for the list and I wouldn't let him take it. Finally he started to get upset and said..."Mama...share"! His tactic worked and he got the list...and now we are really sure he knows what sharing means!

Haircut, Pool Time, and 8 weeks along

Caleb's hair has been really out of control lately, but I'm not ready for another full haircut, so I took him to get a trim this morning. We tried sitting him in the chair by himself, but he wouldn't have it. And the really cool yellow car-print apron they put on him only made him madder. The stylist managed to get him to sit still long enough to clean up his look. I took him for a cookie afterwards, but he was still mad and wouldn't eat it!

It was another hot day here, so I filled up Caleb's pool this morning...with his help of course. Shortly after I took this pic, Caleb jumped in the pool shoes and all. I guess he couldn't wait.

This afternoon we spent a good while playing in the pool and with the lawn sprinkler. I'm training Caleb to bring buckets of water to me and then pour it on my feet.

I'm now 8 weeks pregnant and the baby is as big as a kidney bean...about 5/8 inch long. I had Randy take the first "belly shot" tonight. I don't have a belly yet, in fact I've lost a couple pounds since I've been so sick this week, but it will be nice to compare as the months go along.

Happy Forth!

Happy 4th! We've had a fun, though not festive, day. Lots of chores and housework, but we just had a nice family cookout in the back yard. Caleb and I will probably both be asleep before any fireworks go off!

Caleb had us cracked up today with a spray water bottle. He thought it was pretty funny too. It's hard to see in the video, but there was water everywhere in the kitchen. Silly boy.

For dinner Randy grilled the classics....burgers and dogs...and some BBQ chicken for Caleb. Since his discovery of BBQ sauce at Primanti's in PA, Caleb is all about it. Randy and I were amazed at how much he ate. Not surprisingly, his little belly looked like it was going to pop! I had a hard time getting him to sit still for a picture, but you get the idea.

As for the baby in my belly, from what I've read it's the size of a blueberry. Hard to believe such a little thing could make me feel so awful...and excited :) I have another ultrasound on the 5th of August to look forward to.
