Last of Summer

Once back from NC, we realized that our summer to-do list was still long but the number of days left before school started were few. So we headed to a beach in Swampscott on a chilly and damp day to look for sea glass and these two crazy girls swam in the water!

 Caleb and Sameera kayaking
I discovered a bald-faced hornet nest in the yard, you'll see it's removal below.
Trying on silly glasses with Levi at Caleb's yearly eye exam.
Adelina attended a four-day sewing class and she made this outfit! All by herself! So proud of her :)

Our wasp removal involved a masked man and a shop vac, no pesticides.
Continuing with our summer of baseball, we attending a Pawtucket Sox game. So fun!

Our neighbors hired goats to get rid of their poison ivy. The coolest!

Right behind a Hawaii plate on our way to Crane Beach!
The kids made pancakes for breakfast last Saturday, and made me a special 18 in honor of the miles I had run that morning.

And just like that.....2nd, 4th, and 6th grade. Here we go!

2018 North Carolina Trip

A few bee pictures before diving into our NC trip. I saw this painting with driving back from Boston one day. The timing was interesting because I had just harvested about 20lbs of honey from the bees.

Playing vintage Win, Lose, or Draw
Roosting chickens in their new coop
On our first day in NC, Randy, Caleb and I went for a run and saw this group of turkey vultures (and one black vulture) eating some roadkill.
While we were running, Levi found a snake and this weathered box turtle.
On Saturday of our visit, we drove to High Point to visit with Tate, Emily, Everett and Parker. We had a great time eating pizza, birthday cake, and watching the cousins play.
Adelina and Sam bonded while we stayed at GiGi and PaPa's.

The kids came with us to Irregardless Cafe this year for our pre-beach brunch.
Unfortunately for us, we were forced to dodge lots of rain this year at the beach. We were still able to manage at least a few hours of ocean time every day. The water was also very rough, with a red flag flying every day indicating a high risk for rip currants. It wasn't our best trip to the beach, but we still made lots of good memories. Caleb really loves the waves, Adelina loves looking for seashells and seagrass and Levi made great strides in his skim boarding technique (videos below). We were able to spend time with our neighbor Betty every day, which is always special.

With all the rainy weather, we played lots of UNO.

The spiders are just so giant...yikes!

 We love Miss Betty!!

This with our fifth year staying at Phil's beach house and it may have been our last. His house will be going on the market this year, so we aren't sure of what next year will bring. A look back....
